I have a YouTube channel where I upload videos of dubbing and voice-overs, but not all of them are work done... Sometimes, I just watch videos in other languages that are interesting to me and I want to dub them, edit them and upload them so that whoever wants it, can enjoy them in Spanish.
One of these voice-overs, the most interesting in my opinion, is this documentary.
Earthlings is a 2005 American documentary film about humanity's use of other animals as pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and for scientific research. The film is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, features music by Moby, and was directed by Shaun Monson, executive produced by Libra Max and co-produced by Maggie Q. A sequel titled Unity was released in 2015.
Covering pet stores, puppy mills, and various animal professions, Earthlings includes footage obtained through the use of hidden cameras to chronicle the day-to-day practices of some of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely on animals. Then, the film draws parallels between speciesism and racism, sexism, and more.
I have to say that the content is hard and explicit (perhaps it is necessary to raise awareness) and it is clear that, although it does not change your life, its viewing will not leave you indifferent and will make you reflect on the unnecessary and cruel uses that humanity makes of other species that inhabit the planet.
